Why Mount Kailash is Sacred

Mount Kailash stands tall at 6,638 meters in the remote western region of Tibet, known as the Ngari Prefecture. Revered by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon followers, it is considered the abode of Lord Shiva by Hindus, the center of the universe by Buddhists, the place where the founder of Jainism attained liberation, and a spiritual epicenter by the Bon religion. Pilgrims believe that completing the 52-kilometer Kailash Kora (parikrama) helps cleanse the soul and eliminate the sins of a lifetime.

Best Time to Travel from Malaysia to Mount Kailash

The window to visit Mount Kailash is narrow. May to September is ideal due to stable weather and open travel permits.

May–June: Fewer tourists, fresh mountain air

July–August: Warmer, but chance of monsoon in lower altitudes
