Mera Peak Climbing Itinerary and Cost

Trip Overview

Mera Peak is a well renowned Himalayan peak for climbing in Nepal among trekkers. This mountain is at the height of 6470 meters/21247 feet is the near Everest region. This mountain can be climbed without past mountaineering experience as it is a non-technical high altitude trekking peak. The mountain has less to non-technical challenges, there are 3-4 small opening crevasses during the climb but apart from that, the climb is straight forward. The climb normally starts very early in the morning and it is about 3-4 hours climb from high camp to the summit.

During the summit trip on a clear day, you will see five of the six highest mountains on Earth. Everest (8848m)- 1st highest mountain, Lhotse (8516m)- 4th highest mountain, Makalu (8463m)- 5th highest mountain and Cho Oyu (8201m)- 6th highest mountain are all very close by, and when it’s clear you may just be able to see Kangchenjunga (8586m)- 3rd highest mountain far away to the east.

Although no previous climbing experience is required, if you have experience in abseiling; using crampons, ice-ax, walking roped-up will be an advantage. Also, it requires a good level of physical fitness as you will be climbing under challenging conditions (thin air, extreme cold, snow, and wind).

Summiting Mera Peak mostly depends on the weather condition and your fitness level. Thus, all climbers are recommended to take in fitness training before 6 – 4 months before your trip. You will need good endurance and body strength. Aerobic exercises mixing with overall body strength building routines should help you prepare physically for your trip.

Mera Peak was at the first summitted by J.O.M Roberts and Sen Tenzing in 1953 AD. Notwithstanding, the best possible climb was made by Marcel Jolly, G. Baus, and L. Honnis in 1975. They are French Climbers who began climbing following a similar course by Roberts yet crossing along the joining edge to the further highest point.

Mera Peak Climbing trip is a regularly either 18 days or 20 days trip from your arrival day in Kathmandu to the last takeoff from Nepal. Be that as it may, it tends to be modified by your interest and preference.

Mera Peak Climbing the best suitable time is from Mid-March to May (Spring Season) and October – November (Autumn Season). During this time the weather relatively becomes stable than other times of the year. No matter what time you choose for the climb, temperatures at the top are still incredibly cold, yet bearable.
