The hiking path to Kyanjin Ri is well-marked but steep, requiring good physical fitness and acclimatization.

The hiking distance from Kyanjin Gompa to the summit of Kyanjin Ri is relatively short but involves a significant elevation gain of approximately 903 meters. The one-way distance from Kyanjin Gompa to Kyanjin Ri summit is about 2.5 to 3 kilometers (1.6 to 1.9 miles) which takes 2 to 3 hours. The descent takes 1 to 2 hours. The round trip distance is about 5 to 6 kilometers (3.1 to 3.7 miles) which takes total hiking time around 3 to 5 hours.

 Itinerary for Kyanjin Ri Trek

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (Altitude 2,500m/8,200ft).

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, which takes about 7 hours. Along the way, you’ll pass through several picturesque villages and towns, including Dhunche, the capital of the Langtang National Park. You’ll also cross several rivers, including the Trishuli. Upon arrival in Syabrubesi, you’ll check into a Tea House and the rest. Overnight stay at a tea house in Syabrubesi

Day 2: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,410m/7,907ft).

The trek from Syabru Village to Lama Hotel is a moderate 6-hour hike, following a well-marked trail through the dense forests of rhododendrons, oak, and bamboo. The trail offers glimpses of the Langtang River, and you might spot some wildlife, such as monkeys and deer, along the way. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Lama Hotel.

Day 3: Trek Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,307m/10,849ft).

The trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village is a moderate 6-7 hour hike, passing through the beautiful Langtang Valley. The trail offers stunning views of the Langtang Lirung (7,232m/23,726ft), a peak in the Langtang Himal range, and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Langtang Village.

Day 4: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m).

The trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa is a short, easy 3-4 hour hike, passing through yak pastures and offering views of the snow-capped peaks in the Langtang range. Kyanjin Gompa, the highest point of the trek, is a small Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site with stunning views of Langtang Lirung, Pemthang Ri (5,823m/19,100ft). Day 5: Hiking to Kyanjin Ri and Back.

Early morning ascent to Kyanjin Ri. The trail starts from the village of Kyanjin Gompa, which is situated at an altitude of 3,870 meters and ascends to the summit of Kyanjin Ri at 4,773 meters. The hike takes around 3-4 hours and involves a steep climb up a ridge, followed by a gentle slope to the summit. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy stunning views of the Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and other surrounding peaks, as well as the picturesque Langtang Valley below. Then return to Kyanjin Gompa. Rest of the day explore Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 6: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,410m/7,907ft).

The trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel is a 6-7 hour descent, retracing your steps back through the beautiful Langtang Valley. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Lama Hotel.

Day 7: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (2,500m/8,200ft).

The final day of the trek is a 5-6 hour hike back to Syabru Village, where you’ll bid farewell to the Langtang Valley and its stunning scenery. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Syabru Village.

Day 8: Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu.

The drive back to Kathmandu from Syabru Village takes around 6-7 hours, giving you a last opportunity to enjoy the views of the Himalayan foothills along the way.
