Solo Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal
Trip Overview
Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world which is rising majestically 8,848 meters above sea level. It is so massive that the Nepalese people call it ‘Sagarmatha’, meaning mother of the Universe. Almost everyone on the planet has heard of Mt. Everest, so why not come and see it for yourself?
Everest Base Camp takes you to the foothills of the highest mountain on earth. Widely considered one of the best treks in the world, this adventure not just allows you to see some of the tallest mountains in the world, but it also gives you the chance to have a ring-side view of Sherpa culture.
Everest Base Camp Trek starts after a flight to the mountainous airport of Lukla. Follow a scenic trail from Lukla that takes you past highland hamlets and Buddhist monasteries. Along the way, you will rest for two days in order to acclimatize to higher elevations. The itinerary also includes Kala Patthar (5,545m), from where you can enjoy panoramic views of snowcapped peaks, including Mount Everest, Mount Nuptse, Mount Pumori, Mount Lhotse, and Mount Changtse, as well as the Khumbu Glacier.
Everest Base Camp Solo Trek
Many people want to do a solo trek of Everest Base Camp. It is quite possible Everest Base Camp by a single. No matter whether the person is male or female. It is 100% safe and also more exciting. Excellent Himalaya Trek and Expedition has been organizing Solo Everest Base Camp trek for many years. In every Solo Trek, we provide an experienced guide and also a porter at the request of the solo trekker.
Although this trek can be done all year round and in any season, the period between March to May and September to November is the best time to do it.
Why does Trekking Guide require Solo Everest Base Camp Trek?
Solo Everest Base Camp Trek without a good guide will be quite risky as well as uncomfortable. While trekking in the Everest mountain area, the solo trekker will obviously confuse to find out the exact trail since there are side trails used by Sherpas. If there is a guide there will not be any confusion about finding out the proper route. Through the guide, you will get important information about the Himalayas, villages, local lifestyle, flora, and fauna. Another more important thing is Everest Base Camp is high altitude journey. The trekker needs to walk up to 5500 meters from sea level. So, in High land, sometimes you may face altitude sickness. Altitude sickness should be properly handled on time. In severe cases, you need to immediately evacuate by chopper to Kathmandu. So, in such an emergency situation, if you have a guide he will handle everything well and you will be on the safe side.
Does it need Porter for Solo Everest Base Camp Trek?
In the case of porter, it is optional. If you can carry your own backpack/ luggage during the entire trek, it is not compulsory. However, in the high mountains, if you have a porter it will be very comfortable for you. You will not feel more fatigued and can fully enjoy your trip. Many trekkers also hire a porter in Everest Base Camp Trek as it is everyone’s lifetime journey.
The advantage of Solo Trekking to Everest Base Camp
The Solo Everest Base Camp trek is an absolutely private trek. You can trek on your own. Thus, you feel more flexibility, excitement, and relaxation than group trekking joining with others. In the group trek, there will be people from different countries or communities. They have their own interests to see, eat and stay. So you can’t travel in your own way and interest. Further, in the group tour, you can’t maintain your privacy. You need to share the room with a different person whom you do not recognize before. So, it may create discomfort for you.
The disadvantage of Solo Trekking to Everest Base Camp Trek
Even though Solo Trek has many advantages, it has one disadvantage as well. Its only drawback is cost-wise it becomes a little expensive. The reason is in Solo trek you do not share any services with others like a room, guide, porter, food, etc.
