Australian Base Camp Trek is one of the topmost trending short treks in Nepal. Australian Base Camp Trek can also be completed within two days from Pokhara. The below-presented itinerary includes 3 days of hiking. This trek starts from Phedi drive one hour from Pokhara. From Phedi climb up 2 hours to Dhampus village. Dhampus is a beautiful village with a number of slate-roofed houses, paved countrysides, and a Buddhist monastery. After Dhampus, you will start gently climb up through the rhododendron and oak forests until reaching Pothana. From Pothana, it is around 1-hour trekking with stone staircases to reach Australian Camp.
Australian Base camp is at the center of the Dhampus Jungle. There are few comfortable lodges. The Australian Camp offers great Jungle scenery and similar views as Poonhill like Annapurna South, Fishtail, Mt Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak, Dhampus Peak, Nilgiri, and Himchuli. You can enjoy with Sunset view over the Himalayas in the evening.
From Australian Camp, you will hike to Naudanda (Nine hills) stop for lunch, and continue the hike to Sarangkot. Sarangkot is the famous viewpoint near Pokhara. It offers you enchanting sunrise views and also spectacular mountain scenery (Mt Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal, etc. The terrace farms, the villages, and above all the spectacular panoramic view from Sarangkot is simply unforgettable. At the nighttime from Sarangkot, you can enjoy the views of Pokhara valley with lighting. From Sarangkot you hike down approaching Pokhara.

ITINERARY OF AUSTRALIAN BASE CAMP TREK
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our officer will receive and welcome you. He/she will be displaying your nameplate outside the airport terminal. You will be then transferred to your respective hotel in our private tourist vehicle. At the hotel, you will have a trip briefing. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
In the morning, you will be transferred to Tourist Bust Station, Sorahkhutte nearby Thamel to take the bus to Pokhara. The driving distance is 210 km and it will take around 6 hours drive. Pokhara is also called a city of lakes which has Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake, Rupa Lake, and more. It also offers the panoramic view of Fishtail Peak (Machhapucharre 6,993m), Annapurna (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Manaslu (8,156m), and Lamjung Himal. Upon reaching Pokhara check-in at Hotel. Free and relax. You can walk around the lakeside in Pokhara, explore the market and relax. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara
Note: Kathmandu Pokhara is also connected by flight. If you take a flight it will take 25 minutes.
Day 3: Drive from Pokhara to Phedi. Start trek to Dhampus Village then to Australian Camp (Altitude 2165 meter). Average walking 6 hrs
After breakfast, drive from Pokhara to Phedi. It takes about 45 minutes. Start trek from Phedi climbing up with stone staircases through the Rhododendron forest until reaching lower Dhampus. Then, you will gently climb up again passing the terraced fields and small houses. We again keep climbing up through the rhododendron forest until reaching the ridge. Take lunch at Dhampus. After lunch, you will start gently climb up through the rhododendron and oak forests until reaching Pothana. From Pothana, it is around 1-hour trekking with stone staircases to reach Australian Camp. You will enjoy with Sunset view over the Himalayas in the evening. Overnight at Mountain Lodge
Day 4: Trek from Australian Base Camp to Sarangkot (Altitude 1600 meter). Average walking 5 hrs.
After breakfast, from Australian Camp, you will hike through the forestry slightly descend trail Naudanda (Nine hills). Stop for Lunch and continue the hike to Sarangkot. The trail following the bit easy path along hill ridge to the dense settlement with mixed ethnic groups. Sarangkot is a famous viewpoint very close to Pokhara. It offers a magnificent Himalayan vista as well as a great view of Fewa Lake and Pokhara valley. At night time you can enjoy the views of Pokhara valley with lighting. Overnight at Mountain Lodge
Day 5: Trek from Sarangkot to Pokhara (Altitude 822 meters). Average walking 4 hrs.
Today early morning, enjoy the beautiful Sunrise. From Sarangkot, Mt. Dhaulagri to Mt. Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Nilgiri, Lamjung himal etc. Then you hike down approaching Pokhara. Upon arrival in Pokhara, check in at the hotel. You will have free time in the afternoon to explore Pokhara on your own. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara
Day 6: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tourist Bus Terminal at Pokhara. Then you board the tourist bus. You will follow the same highway through beautiful rivers, hills, and small Nepalese settlements. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check in at the hotel. Free time to explore Thamel Market. Evening, you will be offered a farewell dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant with a cultural show. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 7: Departure from Nepal.
The trip concludes today. Our airport representative will drop you at the international airport in Kathmandu for your flight departure from Nepal.
