Annapurna Hike and Trek
Annapoorna locally spelled as Annapurna is one of the famous Himalayan Massif (a compact group of mountains). In Annapurna Range, 1 peak called Annapurna I is over 8000 meters, 13 peaks over 7000 meters and 16 mountains are over 6000 meters above sea level.
Annapurna Massif is surrounded by the Kali Gandaki River on the west, the Marshyangdi River on the north and east and by Pokhara valley on the south. The entire Annapurna surrounding area is protected as the Annapurna Conservation Area in the area of 7629 square kilometers.
Annapurna Area is one of the very popular hiking and trekking destinations in the world. It grants every trekker the fascinating biodiversity, outstanding Himalayan views, and wonderful mountain lifestyle and culture. Therefore, Annapurna is recognized as the paradise of adventure and nature lovers.
The word Annapurna is derived from the name of Hindu Goddess of Grain and Abundance. In Nepal, Annapurna is the second region visit by large no. of trekkers after Everest. In Annapurna zone, the southern part is with the lush valleys around Pokhara and the northern part is the high altitude desert which similar to Tibetan Plateau.
Annapurna region is rich in cultural heritage. In the lowlands, you can experience the incredible culture of Gurung culture and in the high land the culture of Thakali around Jomsom, Manangi culture in the east at Manang and Loba and Tibetan culture in the arid north. Here, you also find various fauna that includes snow leopards, blue sheep and various species of the birds, butterflies, and insects.
