Min Bahadur Sherchan, 85 years, dies trying to become the oldest man to climb Everest

Min Bahadur Sherchan died at the Everest base camp on the evening of 6th May 2017, however, the reason behind death wasn’t like a shot clear, told Dinesh Bhattarai, chief of Nepal’s Tourism Department.

Mountaineering official Gyanendra Shrestha from Everest Base Camp told the cause was possible cardiopulmonary arrest however he couldn’t elaborate due to a poor phone connection.

Sherchan, a granddaddy of seventeen and great-grandfather to 6, initial scaled Everest in May 2008 at the age of seventy-six — at the time becoming the oldest climber to reach the top of Mount Everest.

His record was broken in 2013 by 80-year-old Japanese climber named Yuichiro Miura.

Before leaving for the mountain last month, Sherchan told the Press that after the success of becoming the older climber of Mount Everest, he supposed to visit conflict areas to unfold a message of peace.

He had trained for months before the attempt. It was said that he did not to suffer from any respiratory problems and his blood pressure was normal too.

Being born in the mountains, he told he did not have any issues with high altitude or the low levels of oxygen there.

Sherchan’s love of climb began in 1960 when he was allotted by the Nepalese government to be a liaison officer for the Swiss team of climbing Mount Dhaulagiri.
