Trip Overview
Everest Base Camp Tour drive is getting more popular nowadays. Because it’s an easy way to be at Everest Base Camp by road transport and it does not need long days of trekking and hiking. This tour also grants an opportunity to explore Tibetan plateau, high valleys and major cities of Tibet.
This tour begins from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It takes you to visit Everest Base Camp of the northern side of Mount Everest which is in Tibet part.
Before heading towards Tibet you will be offered cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu and one night stay at Nagarkot, hill station east of Kathmandu famed for sunrise and Himalayan panorama.
On the fourth day, you follow the road to Kerung border (newly opened border of Nepal and China) and enter into Tibetan territory.
It’s a scenic high altitude overland drive in Tibetan plateau. From Kerung you drive towards Everest base camp via Tingri and Rongbuk. From Everest base camp it will certainly be a great experience to come face-to-face with Mount Everest the tallest mountain on earth.
After the visit of EBC, you continue to drive to Lhasa via Shigatse and Gyantse. En route you also visit worth seeing monuments and monasteries like Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Palcho Monastery, Kumbum Stupa in Gyantse. Visit of Yamdrok Lake on the way from Gyantse to Lhasa makes this trip more exciting.
In Lhasa, you visit Potala Palace (The Winter Palace of Dalai Lamas), Jokhang Temple (The most sacred temple in Tibet), Barkhor Market (Ancient Tibetan market), Norbulingka (The summer palace of Dalai Lama) and two influential monasteries: Sera and Drepung Monastery.
This exciting journey ends after the sightseeing of Lhasa. On the final day, our guide assists you to transfer Lhasa airport for the departure of your onward journey.

Highlight: In the morning you drive to Rasuwa Gadhi (newly opened border of Nepal and China). It’s a mountain drive passing through paddy fields, several villages and river. After Immigration and customs formalities on both sides (Nepal & China) drive to Kerung, small town of China.

Driving distance 250 km. Driving time: 5 hour. Elevation: 4,300 meter/ 14108 feet
Highlight: The journey starts with an adventure drive into the dry and arid landscape of the Tibetan Plateau. You pass through Pelkhu Tso Lake (4600 meter, a cobalt blue lake. En route you can enjoy great panorama of Himalaya including Mount Shishapangma, Langtang, Gaurishanker and Annapurna. From Old Tingri you could see Mount Everest. The sunset view is also very awesome if the weather is good.

Driving distance: 70 km. Driving time: 2 hour 30 minutes. Elevation: 5200 meter/ 17060 feet
Highlight: Today drive is adventurous as the roads are coarse and bumpy. Before arriving at the Everest Base Camp you will first visit Rongbuk, the world’s highest monastery. From Everest Base Camp (5250 meter) you can enjoy great views of high mountains like Cho Oyu (8201 meter), Shisapangma (8013 meter), Everest (8848 meter) and others. It will certainly be a great experience to come face-to-face with the greatest mountain on earth. Then drive back to Rongbuk for night halt.

Driving distance: 350 km. Driving time: 6 hour. Elevation: 3836 meter/ 12585 feet
Highlight: Wake up early in the morning to see the Sunrise over Mount Everest. Then you drive to Shigatse. Today you drive passing by lonely monasteries and camps of nomadic herders. In Shigatse visit of Tashilhunpo monastery is the seat of successive Panchen Lama, the equally important religious figure in Tibet like the Dalai Lama. It was founded by the First Dalai Lama in 1447 has more than 57 halls and 3600 rooms.

Driving distance: 360 km. Driving time: 7 hour. Elevation: 3658 meter/ 12001 feet
Highlight: Firstly scenic drive to Gyantse, another historical city of Tibet where you will visit Kumpa Stupa (the largest stupa in Tibet) just next to the Stupa is the Pelcho Monastery. Then you continue drive to Lhasa crossing the Karo La (5,010 m) and Kamba La (4794 m) passes. The road also follows the bank of Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake), one of the three largest sacred lakes of Tibet, also believed to be the transformation of a Tibetan goddess. Furthermore you cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahamaputra) River to reach in Lhasa.

Highlight: Visit of Potala Palace (The landmark of Lhasa used to be the winter palace for the Dalai Lamas was built as the center of Tibetan government by the fifth Dalai Lama in 1645. This Palace is famous for its grand buildings, complicated constructions, devotional atmosphere and splendid artworks), Jokhang Temple (Located in central Lhasa this temple is considered as the most sacred temple in Tibet with four storeys with a golden top. It attracts crowds of prostrating Tibetan pilgrims and curious foreign tourists every day) and Barkhor Market (It is a very ancient round street market surrounding the Jokhang Temple. It shows the original outlook of Lhasa with varied shops stand on both sides of street).
