Bhutan Travel 4 days : Paro-Thimphu Tour is a fascinating trip of Himalayan Kingdom ‘Bhutan’. In this trip, you will explore two beautiful towns of Bhutan. They are Paro and Thimphu. Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, the trip begins with a scenic drive to Thimphu.
Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan. It is also the bustling town lies on the banks of the Wang Chhu River. In Thimphu, firstly, you go for sightseeing tour of Tashichho Dzong. This is the major landmark of Thimphu. In its complex, it has the Secretariat of Bhutan government, National Assembly and the office of King.
After that, you visit Memorial Chorten: The stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s Third King. People honor him as the Father of modern Bhutan.
Subsequently, you visit of National Library, Arts & Crafts School, Textile Academy, Folk Heritage Museum, Nunnery temple and National Institute of Traditional Medicine. After two night halt at Thimphu, you will drive back to Paro.
Paro is the lovely town with rich culture and many heritages. In Paro, you hike up to Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Locally known in the name of Taktsang Monastery, it is located on the side of the cliff of the Upper Paro Valley. Later you also visit Kyichu Lhakhang. This is one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan that dated back to 7th century. Its complex is composed of two beautiful temples.

Getting into Bhutan
There are only two Airlines (Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines) which flying in and out of Bhutan. Both airlines have a flight from Kathmandu to Paro and vice versa. Paro is the only international airport of Bhutan. Thus, you may start your journey to Bhutan via Kathmandu Nepal, the Himalayan country with Mount Everest.

Overnight in Thimphu
Highlight: In Thimphu visit of Tashichho Dzong (The major landmark in Thimphu is the center of religious as well as administrative activities. It houses Central Secretariat, National Assembly and the office of King), Memorial Chorten (The stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s Third King regarded as Father of modern Bhutan), National Library, Arts & Crafts School, Textile Academy, Folk Heritage Museums, Nunnery temple, mini zoo to see Takin (The national animal of Bhutan) and National Institute of Traditional Medicine. Note: some of the landmarks are closed in the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Therefore, if you are in Thimphu during the weekends, you explore the Weekend Market instead.
Overnight in Thimphu
Highlight: In the morning drive from Thimphu to Paro. In Paro hike up to Tiger’s Nest Monastery ( Locally known as Taktsang Monastery is located in the side of cliff of the Upper Paro Valley where Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century). It’s about two hours hike up from the base camp to the cafeteria. From this point, enjoy the spectacular view of the monastery. Hike back to the road. Then go for visit to Kyichu Lhakhang (One of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan). Evening stroll around the main shopping district in Paro.
