The entire area is protected within the 7,629 sq km Annapurna Conservation Area, the first and largest conservation area in Nepal.

The trek to Annapurna Base Camp begins after a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. From Nayapul you begin your hiking. You will walk through Ghandruk, Sinuwa, Deurali and finally reach the base camp of Annapurna. The trail reverts down to the valley at Jhinu hot spring where you have the opportunity for a hot and well-earned bath and thereafter and return through the valley to Pokhara.
7 DAYS ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK ITINERARY
Day 01: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. Trek from Nayapul to Ghandruk (Altitude: 1940 meters). Walking 6/7 hours.
After breakfast, you an hour and a half long drive from Pokhara to Naya Pul. After reaching Nayapul you start trekking. In the beginning, the trail route drops down to Birethanti, a local village, crossing the suspension bridge over the Bhurungdi River. Then the trail winds along the Modi River. After that trail becomes flat up till Syauli Bazaar. Leaving the riverbank, you then hike on a winding path till Kimche. From Kimche, the trail further ascends towards Ghandruk, another stunning village, after crossing Chane. Overnight at Tea House
Day 02: Trek from Ghandruk to Chomrong (Altitude 2,210 meters). Walking 5/6 hours.
After breakfast, you trek to Chomrong village which is the last settlement before the gateway to Annapurna Base Camp. The trail begins by descending down from Ghandruk to the Kyuri Khola and we then follow the trail leading to Kimrong Danda. Along the way you will pass through the terraced farmlands and continue on to Gurung. From here it is an easy trek to Chomrong. Overnight at Tea House
Day 03: Trek from Chomrong to Himalaya (Altitude 2840 meters). Walking 6 hours.
Today the trail descends to the Chomrong Khola and then ascends to Khuldighar- 2,380m, where there used to be an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area) checkpoint. As you go higher you will notice the decreasing forest and more arid landscape. You follow the trail on the west side of the river and before reaching your destination will have to walk through bamboo and rhododendron forests. Overnight at Tea House
Day 04: Trek from Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp (Altitude 4120 meters). Walking 6 hours.
After breakfast, you follow a trail that takes you by Hinku Cave and Deurali and then passes Machapuchare Base Camp (3720m) before reaching ABC. From ABC you have unbelievable views of Annapurna I (8091m), Khangsar Kang, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and Machapuchare a colossal mountain vista right before your eyes. Overnight at Tea House
Day 05: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (Altitude 2310 meters). Walking 6/ 7 hours.
After the visit to your final destination, today you retrace your trip. You will follow the same trail which descends to 1700 meters to the banks of the Modi Khola and then make your way to Bamboo for a night halt. Overnight at Tea House
Day 06: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (Altitude 1750 meters). Walking 6 hours.
After leaving Bamboo in the morning you have a short uphill trek to Sinuwa Village (2320m) and then on to Chomrong. After a short rest break at Chomrong, you again head uphill and then finally descend to Jhinu Danda Village. This is an excellent chance to relax your tired muscles in the hot spring just below the Modi River. Overnight at Tea House
Day 07: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul (Altitude 827 meters). Walking 5/6 hours.
Today is your final day on the trail and after leaving Jhinu Danda Village you follow the trail alongside the Modi Khola River until you reach Birethanti Village. You will then continue to Nayapul before driving back to Pokhara.
