Time in Tibet describes the major tourist destinations of Tibet. Lhasa is capital of Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Most travelers prefer to stay only in Lhasa also and make sightseeing to its historic landmarks and monasteries. The main reason is the altitude of Lhasa is relatively low, 3,700 meters above the sea level, which is among the lowest areas in Tibet territory. Here all facilities are very good combatively to other places.
It is enough four days to cover all the attractions of Lhasa. Most of the highlights of Lhasa are related to religious and historic sites. If you want to mingle with local culture, our guide takes you to the local tea house and takes a cup of tea among the locals.
The next popular travel route of Tibet is combining Lhasa with Shigatse and Gyantse. This is a very scenic tour including beautiful lake and grasslands, snow-capped mountains, gorges, and glaciers. You need to top a mountain pass of 5,300 meters on the way.
Nearby Lhasa there are two pristine mountain lakes. If you are interested to explore the natural beauty of this region you may visit Namtso Lake or Yamdrok Lake. When you combine Lhasa with Gyantse Yamdrok is on its route. This lake is at 4500 meters above the sea level.
Similarly, Namtso Lake is 112 kilometers/ 70 miles North-West of Lhasa. This salty lake is also the largest lake in Tibet located at the altitude of 5000 meters above sea level.
The trip can also be extended to Mt. Everest Base Camp, Tsedang, Mount Kailash, Mansarovar Lake, Guge Kingdom or ever to Nepal.
